Agri-EPI brings expertise in agri-tech development, deployment and project management; lifecycle assessment; industry and supply-chain links to support dissemination and knowledge exchange; and provides engineering workspace and incubation facilities to support UPP’s development of the mobile biorefinery unit and subsequent exploitation.

JHI brings crop physiology and biochemistry expertise and laboratory facilities to support technical development of the biorefinery process to isolate protein and other nutritional fractions from the crop sidestream.

Funders

Two key growth sectors targeted by UKRI is artificial intelligence and sustainable proteins, UPP meets this criteria. Our latest UKRI funding is focused on creating sustainable protein from broccoli waste, with the potential of expanding the technology to other crop wastes.

Having already invested tens of millions in similar pursuits (https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/sustainable-farm-based-protein-industrial-research/), there is unmistakable evidence to suggest that sustainable protein is a food sector rapidly on the rise.

We are backed by Elbow Beach Capital, whose focuses of “decarbonisation, sustaniable energy and social impact” align with UPPs core values. Their “hands-on approach to accelerating growth” is helping accelerate UPP into the consumer market.

CO-FOUNDER

Co-founder of the company, Pollybell remains an essential connection, linking the UPP with farmers.
