How we work with food producers

How we help you launch with confidence

Bringing a new ingredient into a major food brand or retailer range requires more than innovation, it needs a proven pathway from concept to retail-ready ingredient, requiring technical confidence, supply certainty, regulatory clarity, and trust. UPP has designed its customer journey around how Tier 1 producers and retailers actually approve ingredients — not theory, not shortcuts, and without novelty risk. Our structured pathway reduces uncertainty at every step, so your teams can move faster without compromising quality, compliance, or commercial outcomes.

Weeks are stated 'best-case' (33 weeks), 'median' (57 weeks) and 'extended' (77 weeks), but are indicative in any event as food manufacturers and retailers vary, and often there are seasonal factors that influence actual time to gain approval.

Fast-Track Pathway:

For low-inclusion or hybrid applications, we can combine early gates and run compliance activities in parallel, without compromising retailer and manufacturer approval requirements and be complete in 6-9 months or less.

For smaller organisations, or food service companies, adoption for BRCGS certified ingredient time to production can be much faster (potentially 12-20 weeks, depending on the producer), and we are happy to flex to your schedules.

Integration of our ingredients is of limited technical complexity due to the benign cooking characteristics and regulatory status. For Tier 1 food producers selling to supermarket retailers, a typical timeline could be as follows:
